The other blog post is Paul Douglas' weekend weather update. He's calling for 5-10" more of the heavy white stuff this Sunday. It's only the latest storm in this The Winter That Will Not End, and I'm already fearing the monumental back ache I'm sure to have by Monday.
So, Ryan, I believe our brief heat wave has ended. Winter shall be rearing back its nasty front within a matter of hours, and all those exposed dog turds will once again be buried under a cold, white blanket.
I did a little googling, and it turns out there is indeed a term for the opposite of Indian Summer. In the South, when a bitter cold spell follows unseasonably warm weather, it's called Blackberry Winter. I have to say, I like the sound of it.
But I like Zombie Winter even more.

Ho my God, Brendan, that is fantastic--Blackberry Winter. I suppose I should be patient, it's still mid-Feb, and March is statistically the snowiest month. I would accept the term Zombie Winter (and its negative connotation) if snow falls beyond a predetermined date, say April 1st.
